We have been collaborating with experts such as Dr. Michael Ngadi and Dr. Ebenezer Kwofie at McGill to create an application that collects information about food and nutrition within developing communities. Individuals who use the app apply a nutritional score to what they are eating. The i-Nutri McGill application allows the user to take a photo of the food they are eating, scan it, and then a nutritional profile is tabulated. The information provides insight on how the user can improve their diet.
A couple of our staff members have been working on developing both the user interface for the android application, as well as building the food identifier using machine learning.
